VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR/REGISTRAR

Responsibilities Include:

  • Handle all registration duties: correspondence, mailings, phone calls, confirmations, VIM fees, scheduling and notifying appropriate home owners and departments of dates and projects
  • Keep accurate files (physical and computer) on work camp groups
  • Assist supervisor and project coordinator with ordering when needed, invoices, price lists, records of material and projects, project status, etc.
  • Know local area somewhat to help groups with project selection
  • Be willing to learn about basic tools and skills needed for projects to answer some questions for work camp
  • Coordinate tours and housing for work camp groups
  • Give tours of campus and/or community as needed
  • Occasional weekend hours
  • Contact crafters and procure items for Craft Shop
  • Other duties as assigned and/or needed

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed individual who has a heart for the outreach missions and the community
  • Office experience required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of staff, guests, volunteers, visitors and community with differing skill sets and personalities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and respect for confidential and time-sensitive matters

HUMAN RESOURCES & OFFICE MANAGER

To provide professional HR service to a Christian, non-profit organization in rural Kentucky, maintain effective relationships with 50+ employees and provide administrative support for the office management of the organization

Responsibilities Include:
  • Maintain personnel policies & procedures
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to HR
  • Oversee performance evaluation procedures
  • Communication with employees concerning salaries, benefits, employment policies & procedures and serve as contact person for all employees
  • Organize employee-related meetings, such as insurance and pension education
  • Maintain employee records, update HR databases, post job ads & process incoming resumes
  • Research, implement & administer all company benefit plans
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll for 50+ employees
  • General administrative duties, such as order office supplies, maintain insurance policies and oversee office functions including office equipment, supplies & vendor communication
  • Assist bookkeeper with accounting duties, as needed
  • Report to and assist the Director of Finance & Administration, as needed
  • Assist Executive Director with special projects, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Willingness to work within the organization’s mission & vision and to honor United Methodist theology, social principles & practice
  • Proven work experience in an HR and office management capacity
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs and  experience with Peachtree/Sage Accounting software
  • Excellent organizational, time-management & teamwork skills
  • Minimum of a 2-year college degree in business-related field (Bachelors’ Degree preferred)
  • Bookkeeping and payroll experience required
  • Ability to work alone productively and with integrity and with a wide range of staff with differing skill sets and personalities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and respect for confidential and time-sensitive matters
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adept at employee relations including conflict resolution
  • Strong attention to details and problem-solving skills

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising, directing, and administering the programs of Henderson Settlement.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead, plan and direct the efforts of Henderson Settlement
  • Directly supervise the Department Directors and administration staff; hold them accountable for their assigned duties
  • Prepare; manage the Settlement budget; stay within approved budget
  • Recruit and dismiss staff, with the exception of those on the Director level where decisions will be made in consultation with the Personnel Committee and the President of the Board of Directors
  • Sign, as necessary, legal contracts and agreements on behalf of the Settlement
  • Seek material and financial support by making needs known to staff, individuals, church groups, foundations and other organizations; report progress as required
  • Take advantage of regular professional training
  • Serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Board President
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to God in Christ and a respect for and understanding of the ministries of the United Methodist Church
  • Spiritual maturity and comfort with the language and essentials of the Christian faith
  • Willingness to work with the Settlement’s mission and vision and to honor United Methodist theology, social principles and practice
  • Strong leader who is trustworthy and willing to serve as a mentor
  • Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and a strong operational focus
  • Well-organized, self-directed individual with a heart for outreach missions and the community
  • Intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels
  • Ability to produce clearly written documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to speak persuasively and confidently to large and diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field; four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
